The East Germany national football team, active from 1952 to 1990, navigated a distinctive path in a world where politics and sport tightly intertwined. Their singular appearance in the World Cup occurred in '74, amidst the tournament hosted in West Germany. Remarkably, the 'little' East Germany triumphed over its larger counterpart with a 1-0 victory, securing the top spot in the group and advancing to the second round.

However, the second round presented formidable challenges, resulting in losses to Brazil (1-0) and the Netherlands (2-0). Despite a Valiant 1-1 draw against powerful Argentina, it was not enough, and the team departed the tournament defeated.

Yet, the Olympic Games unfold a contrasting narrative. With two bronze medals ('64 and '72), a silver medal ('80), and a gold medal in '76, East Germany showcased prowess on the Olympic stage.

In less than 40 years, East Germany etched its mark on football's history, proving that even within a relatively brief span, their footballing legacy was formidable and enduring.

For International Orders we use Royal Mail's Standard International service and the main courier companies for International service, depending upon the size and weight of the item, with an estimated delivery timescale of 7-14 working days.

All International orders below the value of €150 will have the VAT included within the final purchase price. However, all international orders over this threshold will have the VAT element deducted at checkout but will instead need to paid to your local tax authority as part of the import charges prior to delivery. If you have any questions regarding VAT please get in touch prior to placing an order.

Returns
